Late-Season Snow Extends Mammoth Mountain Skiing Through June
US · Published May 28, 2026
Mammoth Mountain, a popular ski resort in California, has announced an extension of its ski season through June 7, 2026, following recent snowfall and cooler-than-average temperatures.
According to Mammoth Resorts Communications Manager Emily van Greuning, the resort received 1 to 3 inches of snow since Tuesday night, with additional snowfall expected later in the week.
This comes after a significant accumulation of over 5 feet of snow at the summit in April.

Why It's Important?

The extended ski season at Mammoth Mountain provides additional recreational opportunities for skiers and snowboarders, but it also highlights the variability of weather patterns in the region. Cooler temperatures and snowfall may pose challenges for travelers and outdoor enthusiasts unprepared for winter-like conditions in late spring. Additionally, the lack of beginner terrain at the resort may limit accessibility for less experienced skiers. Southern California’s mountains and deserts are also experiencing unseasonably low temperatures, which could impact local agriculture and outdoor activities.
